What a great start to November!
Last week in Math we worked very hard on solving problems involving adding 2 and 3 digit numbers with regrouping. This week our focus will be on subtracting 2 and 3 digit numbers with regrouping/ borrowing.
In Language we worked on descriptive writing. Our descriptive writing success criteria includes:
-Powerful Title
-Interesting Opening Sentence
-Use of all the 5 senses if you can (sight, touch, smell, taste, sound)
-Lots of adjectves
-Similies (as tall as a tree)
-Organize ideas (top to bottom, side to side)
-Closing sentence
We have already described a monster, a jack -o-lantern (using google read and write), and a person. This week we will describe other objects. There will be a fun surprise too!
We also read a short text about Woolly Mammoths and worked on answering multiple choice and short answer questions.
In Science, we reviewed the forces we have learned so far: friction, magnetism, electrostatic, muscular and gravity. We sorted these forces by push/pull, and contact/no contact. We have started learning about Natural Forces and will be starting a group project this week.
In Art, we finished our zombie art. Once I take pictures of their art works I will send them home. We have very creative friends!
In music we are learning our Christmas Concert song!
In Religion, we have had many discussions about Remembrance Day, peace, and freedom. We have read books and listened to songs about the meaning of this very special day.
Important Dates:
November 11th: Remembrance Day Liturgy (primary: first block)
November 14th: Humane Society Presentations for Grade 3
November 15th: PD Day (no school)
November 28th: Picture Retake Day - Please make sure to let me know if your child will be getting retakes done.
Have a great week!
